MOSCOW. Dec 28 (Interfax) - The first signals have been received from
a Galileo navigation spacecraft launched from Russia's Baikonur space
center in Kazakhstan on Wednesday, head of the European Space Agency
(ESA) mission in Moscow Alain-Fournier Sicre told Interfax by telephone
from Baikonur.
"We've got good news. Galileo has been placed on a predetermined orbit,
and the first signals have been received," Sicre said.
An ESA contractor will soon take control of the satellite, he said.
