Handheld for Mapping Topography

I have a 5 acre lot in TN that has a large crest (hill) that runs the length of the property down the middle (N/S) and slopes down toward the east and west boundaries. I would like to map the topography of my lot for the purpose of designing my home. Is there a handheld that can somewhat accurately allow me to do this?.....that doesn't cost a fortune.
If not I can "borrow" one of the Trimble systems from work for a weekend and do it, but I'd like to have a handheld of my own.
