Can any of the subscribers recommend the manufacturer of a high power
(also what value) rechargeable battery that will comfortably fit my
Garmin GPS Map 76 Please?

Any NiMH AA seems to work in mine. They are currently being rated at more
than 2000 maH. If I recall the battery status can be changed to work with
the lower voltage of the NiMH, but the GPS certainly doesn't mind it.

Any NiMHs work in mine too - I've got everything from 1500 mAHr (antique!) Hahnel to 2600 mAHr VapExTech (which are surprisingly rather good, given how cheap they were). Many of them will go down to '1 bar' level pretty quickly if you turn the backlight on, but the higher capacity cells still run for ~20 hours in my 60C if you don't use the backlight too much.
