Hi,
I currently use the Garmin Etrex Vista C, Rino 120 and iQue 3600. However they are of very limited use under thick foliage while trekking.
At the same time,I sometimes use a Pda in conjunction with a bluetooth sirf lll gps which serve very well under foliage cover conditions. This setup is however not as robust or waterproof; has shorter battery life and also lack the compass option.
In order to be able to continue using my existing handheld units instead of starting to acquire new sirf versions of handhelds, a sirf gps capable of re-radiating gps signals; albeit on a limited range will be ideal.
Thank you for your replies.
You don't understand how the SiRF III works. It decodes the signals and then you no longer have the original signals. They are gone. To recreate them takes a unit that costs $1000s of dollars. What you need is a unit that just amplifies the original signals instead of decoding them. This is why I recommended a re-radiating antenna. It is the only solution available to you.

There is not, but why would you want this anyway? Just use the original GPS instead of another one. If you want to reradiate the GPS signals why decode them first. Just use a re-radiating antenna to send the signal to another unit, or to muliple units, no SiRF III required.

Hi,
Just wondering if there is a sirf lll gps unit that can re-radiate gps signals instead of the present bluetooth signals to a range of say 3 to 5 metres.
Such a gadget could be placed in the car or a backpack and enable a gps receiver (without sirf) to receive good signals within that range.
Thank You.
