Yes!!! The Map76, and the Map76S both beeped constantly until the alarm
was acknowledged. If it's within 6 feet, it will awake you with with
the annoying constant beeping... And yes, it works fine below in the
cabin.

Ok, but I've slept through similar sounding persistent alarms and
finally gotten up only to discover that the alarm had been sounding for
quite a few hours already.

Seems like this should be a trivial firmware modification for Garmin to
make if you convince the right person there of its utility.
