GPS Tip: What is WAAS Ranging data?
If you live in the western half of the USA and have given up on WAAS
signals for your area, you may want to try again. With the eastern
satellite moving west it has moved substantially higher above the
horizon and may now be visible in your area. However, while moving it
no longer includes the Ranging data.
Yes! PRN 35 is much more visible to me now (Colorado). I actually left
WAAS enabled for my last three local hikes and received PRN 35
about 94% of the time (wasn't in a real mountainous area). It will
be especially helpful when it is sending ranging data again.
