Bad information. The 'x' models will support all the same maps as the
corresponding non-x models. Also note that the MapSource compatibility
charts frequently fail to list maps that will work in a given unit but
may not be the 'best' available. So MetroGuide-NA won't be listed for
a 60Cx since it doesn't support the auto-routing feature but it will
still work in that unit although either CitySelect-NA or
CityNavigator-NA would be preferred.

After a VERY long wait time, I had a nice talk with a tech
support guy from Garmin. He said that the "Accessories" list on
the left-side menu is typically far better than the "compatible"
list on the right. It lists a lot of map options.

Also, are City Select Europe v7 and City Navigator Europe v8
just different versions (one CD, one DVD) of the same basic
information, or does anyone have a preference between the two?

CitySelect and CityNavigator are very similar with identical maps and
Points-of-Interest (POI) data but CityNavigator has slightly more
routing-related data. But note that you're listing two different
versions above and CN-Eur v8 is about a year more up-to-date than
CS-Eur v7. Indications are that Garmin will be dropping CitySelect and
letting people upgrade from that product to CityNavigator in the future.

Hmmm. The Garmin rep I just spoke with recommended CitySelect
over City Navigator, since they have the same basic map data,
but City Navigator supports special features not taken advantage
of with the 60 series. He also hinted that it would take less
storage for the same size geographical area since that useless
data wouldn't be downloaded. They sell for the same price.

He also said that it would support up to a 1GB microSD, but
Garmin only lists 128MB and 256MB cards. Does anyone know for
sure what the max supported card size is? According to garmin,
it will take slightly over 1GB to store the main continental
western Europe completely. Or, have to reload from computer or
swap cards. I was going to try and go completely without a
computer.
