Thanks. However, that is the test bed. If I read the other pages
correctly, ESA is also broadcasting live signals on PRN124 (or 37 on
Garmin). With my SiRF based receiver I get signals from both 37 and 33
occasionally but somehow they do not seem to work right.
I'm not sure if the reason is that the reception is weak, or whether
they both send the "do not use" indication. I know the SiRF can be told
to ignore that bit, but I don't know how to do it yet.
Yes, it is the test bed. But at least the 33 appears to be functional. I
got a differential lock today (D symbols on all the bars) with a 3 meter
claimed precision. The spot on the map accurately coincided with the
location where I had placed my GPS. (My back garden in The Hague,
Netherlands.) I did not receive the 37.
The EGNOS project has been taken over by the ESSP and according to their
website the "Stabilisation" phase (whatever that means) should have
started around this time, see http://www.essp.be/ .
I am not sure, by the way, whether precisions of different GPS receivers
can be compared. It is my impression that e.g. my StreetPilot 3 on
average claimed a better precision than my new 60cx but if I compare
their drifts, they seem to be similar.
If I can find the time I will try some side by side comparisons of the
two this weekend.
