I'm looking for something very simple, just to transfer waypoints, tracks,
and routes .. so I can do maintenance with this iBook. Right now I use a
PC and EasyGPS, and it does just fine with the 60Cx via usb.

I've looked into some options. GPSConnect uses only the serial port ..
meaning a serial cable and rs232-usb converter. Even MacGPSPro
apparently will not interface with the 60/76Cx series via usb .. but will the
60/76C series and the Vista Cx etc.; that is odd!

Any recommendations? I don't mind paying for the software, but will not
settle for a klugy rs232 interface to a computer which does not have it
native for a GPSR with usb built in.

As far as I know the only Mac software that supports the USB Gamin units
is MacGPSPro:

http://macgpspro.com/

Their only major competitor that I am aware of doesn't seem to have any
info on their site about their software working with the USB units:

http://www.gpsy.com/

The latest Gpsy beta (only available for registered customers)
unfortunately does not support USB.

The specific lack of support for the 60/76x series is apparently because
of changes in the Garmin protocol. MacGPSPro is not the only one that
has not caught up yet.

And then, of course, there is the announcement by Garmin that they will
support OS X by the end of the year. We all know what time schedules are
worth in the software world :(

Your best bet still appears to be a USB to Serial converter, if you want
to use your iBook, and for the rest stick to your PC. That's what I am
doing...
