TomTom uses TeleAtlas for mapping data. Garmin uses NavTeq. You should
expect TeleAtlas to be the better choice for most of Europe and NavTeq
to be a bit better in the U.S. In either case, yes, the maps will
always lag a bit behind current development in new residential areas.
That should be obvious. There's no way to keep up with new subdivisions
and new roads. Just make periodic checks and updates. Also, new
businesses opening and old businesses closing mean the lookup data will
always have a few errors in it.
