I do thank you, doing quite well of late.
My original model was the Garmin 12 - this looks like it has the same
connector socket as the serial port on the Garmin 60CSx. However, is it
safe to use the same leads on both models - or are they configured
differently?
That would be the same. You can verify that on the Garmin Accessories page
or on the Pfranc page.
More importantly, to me, is my second query. My middle GPS is the Garmin
etrex Vista (not the colour version). One of the features I used to use
a lot was the 'reposition here' option in the waypoint menu. This meant
I don't have that on my eTrex yellow, so I don't miss it on the 60cs.
the end of the day and where (and what features were there when) I added
the new waypoints. I also realise that I could carry two GPSs with me!
That's easier on the 60cs. The waypoints automatically have the Time and
Date on them. You can adjust on the GPS later, or, more to my liking, on a
PC, after uploading with ExpertGPS or MapSource.
I mark new points with whatever number comes up. On the 60, it's easier to
give a viable name, because of the keyboard-on-screen layout, but I
generally don't bother. I used to have to sort them out on the eTrex,
sometimes by comparing the times to an active track, now it's much easier,
with the comments right there.
