As to NAVTEQ having the best auto-routing map data (on the market), I
disagree. There are numerous newer roadways in my local and surrounding
area that are not in the current releases of NACS, v6, presumably because
the NAVTEQ database doesn't have them listed, so, by default, Garmin can
not update the data.

It is the best in my experience. But it is not perfect and does not
pretend to be.

I'd guess the lead time on new roads is 2 to 5 years. Some things that
are not right will never get corrected (errors inherited from the TIGER
database for example) because they are already there and are static.

Newer roads may or will show up hen/if they are reflected in data
sources like the 911. Sometimes it takes inputs from people that know
of the errors to get NavTeq to correct errors or add things. They have
a system for getting inputs from anyone.

That's interesting information.

Could you post the manner in which I might contact NAVTEQ with updated
information for my area? I'd be happy to do the field work for them.

Warm regards,
Stephen
