I just found the cause of all this discussion!
There is a very obscure option. On the Map Setup - Tracks page there is a
"Go To Line" option. Set this to "Bearing" and you get a straight line
path; set it to "Course" and you get a Great Circle path.
Just checking quickly, it doesn't seem to affect the distance calculated,
just how it's plotted on the display; I haven't checked yet to see if it
looks like a great circle or rhumbline distance - I expect it is the great
circle distance.
