I think you will find that Mapsource requires one of Garmin's auto-routing programs (City Select for instance). In my version (7.00), you can identify routes that you want to specifically exclude. You can also set it to take the "fastest" route, or "shorter distance." And, to prefer highways or minor roads. For instance, if I set City Select to prefer highways, it routes you up US-65 to US-62 (38 miles, 42 minutes). However, if you selects minor roads, it routes you up AR-235 to AR-125 to AR-14 (19 mile, 26 minutes).
You would have to identify logging roads yourself (under Preferences, Routing, Advanced) and set it to avoid them (Avoidances). It may require a little monkeying around, but I can usually get what I want.
One other point, the Avoidances don't transfer to a GPS :(

I'm looking for source of driving instructions given starting and ending intersections..
EG
from intersection of us-65 and ar-235
to intersection of ar-62 and ar-14
[a specific route from Pindall, AR to Yellville,AR]
mapquest.com *CLAIMS* to have that capability
IT IS BROKEN
Any suggestions?
Specifically I am a Red Cross Hospital Services Courier covering southern Missouri and northern Arkansas.
I'm trying to optimize our routes.
Simple "start address", "end address" will not work.
[I know of *NO* routing software that accounts for route being heavily used by logging trucks or tourists]
[ the *theoretical* minimum time/distance route
would use us-65, ar-27, ar-14
THAT route would have at least two problems
a. heavily loaded logging trucks
and/or
b. tourists ;{
That inclines me to restrict routes. ]
Thank you.
