It won't clear out the Mapsource maps but could you not just load a
blank set of Mapsource data to your gps first. It's just like changing
the bits you want in memory but have no bits identified. (Does that make
sense).

"Sendmap" (http://cgpsmapper.com) has a button that just erases the maps
in your receiver without loading any others.

Just remembered how I cleared my Vista. See

http://www.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=941

The file overwrites the mapsource stuff.

This might help. It is the email conversation between myself and Garmin
about mapsets

Thank you for contacting Garmin Europe Support.

you can not do this. All you can do is switch the mapping off. on the map
page select menu and switch off the mapping that you have installed.

If you have any further queries please don't hesitate to contact us again.

Thank you for contacting Garmin Europe Support.

every time you load mapping to your unit it will first erase the mapping
that you have installed to make way for the newly selected map tiles. this
is the only way to remove installed mapping.

If you have any further queries please don't hesitate to contact us again.
