If you load the Beta software (2.71) into the GPS, it will add an
option to 'mirror' track points to the memory card. A file will be
created on the card with all the track data even though the GPS will
have rolled/clipped its data internally. There is no way to access the
card from the GPS software itself other than this primitive function.

With this method I got a track with 61K points.

Were you able to access this file on your computer? I did the same thing,
and found that Mapsource and Excel wouldn't recognize a file that size as a
valid file. G7toWin opened it, but only read the first 41K or so of
trackpoints. Wordpad did open it, and I was able to edit it in Wordpad to
break it into smaller files that could be read by Mapsource and Excel.

Could be something specific to my setup; I've mentioned this on some other
forums and no one else has verified that they can or can't read files that
size, but then no one else seems inclined to try it! I suspect it can be
opened and read by a simple C program or such, but I like working with the
files in Excel and Mapsource.

I guess I haven't tried to access the file directly from the
GPS. Rather I use the file explorer to copy the file locally and then
open it with mapsource. I would expect I could open it directly but
will have to try it and let you know.

The issue I've had is opening a 7 meg track file takes more than 15
minutes with MapSource. (resident on my harddisk) It can be opened
with a text editor in no time flat.
