GPS V Maps

I have been using a GPS V for a number of years. It came with a version of
City Select which I have upgraded to V5. There are many new roads in the
areas that I travel so it is somewhat out of date. However if I look on
Garmin web site at CS7 these road have not been updated but CN8 is updated.
It looks as if CN can be loaded on a V, can anybody veryfy this? and what
are the limitations. I know it is time to upgrade the GPS and I have looked
at a Quest and the TomTom for my PDA but online maps for TomTom do not seem
to be available.
