Hi,
I've just got a tomtom go 910, and I wanted it to navigate me to where
the green road (A591) meets the yellow road on this map:
http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?client=public&X=333000&Y=513000&width=700&height=400&gride=&gridn=&srec=0&coordsys=gb&db=freegaz&addr1=&addr2=&addr3=&pc=&advanced=&local=&localinfosel=&kw=&inmap=&table=&ovtype=&keepicon=&zm=0&scale=25000&down.x=359&down.y=427
I figured entering Wythburn would do the trick, but it seemed not to
find that. (this was in response to the City: prompt)
Then I figured I'd use the intersection method, but that was asking
for a city again.
Next I tried using the 'point on map' function, which I found very
awkward to drive indeed. I could zoom in/out OK, but the current point
was always top of screen, I couldn't seem to pan to select further up.
This was infuriating.
So then I tried entering a lat/long from my OS map. This time it told
me no such road at that point, obviously I was slightly off.
However, somewhere along the line, the tomtom gave me an error report
along with mentioning dunmail raise causeway, which is en route.
This led me to believe (as I would of expected in the first place)
that tomtom indeed knows of wythburn.
I was doing all this near an open upstairs window to get signal, and
it nearly caused me to divorce Jane by throwing her out of it!!
So can someone please advise me how do I get it to find that as a
point I can set it to navigate to?
Also, can anyone tell me how to pan the map?
thanks
I'm assuming that the 910 works in the same way as earlier TomToms - which
is like this:
From the main menu (you may have to move right a couple of screens) selectBrowse Map. Start with the zoom slider fairly near the top so that you can
see a lot of the country but with little detail.
Pan to the general area of interest. [To pan, tap the screen somewhere near
the centre and simply drag the map in the desired direction].
When you are in the right area, move the zoom slider downwards to increase
the detail. You'll need several iterations of pan and zoom to get to the
right place at max zoom level. When you find your intersection, tap the
screen in that exact location so that the cursor is at the right place. Tap
the cursor icon at the bottom and either select "Navigate there" or "Add as
favourite" or "Add as POI". If you do one of the latter two, you can
navigate to it multiple times without having to browse the map to find it
each time.
Incidentally, you'll find it a lot easier to use if you get a stylus with
which to tap the screen, rather than using a finger. This gives much greater
precision.
