I have decided to dump my Garmin V and get a newer unit. I had settled on
a
Quest but now see that Garmin is planning to add NT support for the Quest
II.
Quest 2 is in europe preloaded with 2GB CN 8nt (nt=new technology,
compressed maps). The device in the european version have 512MB free to load
own maps.
The NT maps slow down the Quest2 in citys. It is nearly unuseable. The
device takes sometimes up to 90 seconds for a redraw while driving in a
town. On countryside its a little bit faster. The Quest have not enough
power for the NT maps. While testing it with CS7.0 it show more speed and
performance.
We test a routing from 2 towns in Germy over a distance about 600km. The
Quest takes more than 6 minutes to calculate it.

But this is not the main problem. I say: dont buy it! The damm thing crashes
all the time when the sat is lost. Display frozen and you have to press
power/in for reset. Last weekend I do a 160km tour and have to reset it 16
times....

I report this to Garmin, but get only the following answer:

Dear valued Garmin customer,
Thank you for contacting Garmin Europe Ltd and my apologies for the delayed
response to your enquiry.
Garmin Europe have received an unusually high volume of enquiries over the
past months. We are trying to answer them as quickly and effectively as
possible. In order to try and answer outstanding enquiries, we are sending
this reply to all outstanding emails. If your question has not been answered
by other means I would appreciate it if you could resend your email to me at
....

Maybe these problems occurs only the european version and not the us
version. Im give them some more days and then I return the device. Not
useable.

Regards
Andreas
