Is it substituting whatever you manually used last in marking a waypoint?

It does that when I create a series of waypoints on the 76Cx handheld.

But if I uploaded the waypoints to GPSU or to MapSource I would not always see the same symbol that I had seen on the handheld.

And if I uploaded them to and from GPSU, GPSU would not recognize some of them and then give them new symbols out of the set I had currently selected there. When they were sent back to the handheld the unrecognized (by GPSU) symbols became blue flags on the 76Cx.

I tried GPSU with several symbol sets and did not find one that would take the 76Cx symbols I was using and send them back the same way.

Looking at the groups (Civil, Transportation, Markers, etc.) of waypoint icons on the 76Cx and in MapSource the groups are not the same and not all the same icons are seen in both places. Both of them have icons I couldn't find on the other. But it never shows you the symbol numbers in either MapSource or on the 76Cx.

There are 186 symbols on the 76Cx and 229 in MapSource.

I was getting a little brain damaged looking at all the icons and trying to make sense of it. So I gave up and went away.
