In regards to falsely advertising the garmin 2720 for 499.00 plus a 100.00
e-rebate, in this weeks flyer, CompUSA offered to accommodate me with a
Garmin Streetpilot C330 GPS for 399.99 plus a 100.00 e-rebate. Is this a
good price for this unit? How much difference in "bells and whistles"
compared to the 2720 model am I going to miss? Is this c330 any good for the
investment. I notice it says it has audio prompts. When I had the 2720 model
it had text to speech. Whets the difference. Also, is Magellan or tomtoms
product any good? Again, I am looking for something small, that is portable
for my vehicle and company truck to use for street location all over CT.
Don't want to spend too much seeing I can't insure the product nor get a
reimbursement from my employer. Any recommendations? thanks group.

To answer your question, $300 (after rebate) for the 330 is a good
price. I believe in your original posting (and you allude to it in
this posting) you indicated that you go from location to location with
many stops. I do not believe the 330 has multiple destination route
planning. That, to me, with your stated needs, would be essential in
the unit I choose (you would want to know the most efficient route
between the different stops you would have to make). I think this
feature should be included in any automotive gps unit.

The difference in the audio between the 2720 and the 330 is that
Text-to-Speech (used by the 2720) will pronounce the name of the
Street, where as the non-text-to-speech (330) is already pre-recorded
and will only say "turn right" (or left, of course) with no street
names. You might be able to live with the difference, even though its
not as convenient.

I think for your use, Magellan or Tomtom (with multiple route
planning), either is well suited (though I would personally prefer
Garmin). But you should do a little research on your own. Go to the
respective web sites and read about the units under considerations;
should you have further questions, come back to the group and you'll
receive mucho help.

On a personal note, the offer from CompUSA is a little rank. Even
thou its on their web site now (check for store availability and other
criteria) I did not find one store with the unit (I tried many zip
codes, by far not all of them, just trying to find a store with the
unit). Considering many things, it comes pretty close to bait and
switch. Just my opinion!
