Hello,
I found an old Pharos iGPS-180 receiver. It doesn't have the cable
though.
Does anybody have a wiring diagram for this cable? Is this just a
passive
cable, or there is some electronics between the PC and the GPS
receiver?

Those pages and the links from them might be a good start. Browse the manuals for the various versions of the Ostia Navigator software and you'll probably see examples of the receiver in use with different cables.
That receiver was one of the cabled receivers that used a PS/2 style (mini DIN-6) connector to attach the receiver to any of a number of different cables for different models of PDAs and for a USB port adapter too.
The adapter cables had a cigarette lighter style DC adapter that provided power to the receiver (3.3V or 5V typically, not 12V). The DC adapter usually provided power to the PDA also.
The cable also took the RS-232 serial NMEA data from the receiver and put it on a COM port at the PDA for the navigation application.
There are several different cabled GPS receivers that use a PS/2 connector for adapter cables. But the pinouts on the PS/2 connectors were not the same for all the brands. Altina, Rikaline, and Holux all use the same pinouts, but I think Haicom used a different pin out.
I also seem to recall that the Pharos receivers were made by Haicom so if you can find pinouts for a Haicom (303 or something like that?), it may work for you.
Don't waste any time or money trying to find the Pharos Ostia navigation software. It is the original software from hell! I tried to use it on a iPAQ PDA and never did get it working, in addition it would not uninstall and trashed some things on my PDA. I wound up having to do a hard reset on reloading the OS (Pocket PC 2002 Pro) to recover from trying to use the Pharos Ostia software.
But if you can get a cable for that receiver, it should be good with any other navigation software that needs a NMEA input. The Pharos receivers were okay as far as I've heard.
