YOu can answer this question yourself from the Garmin web site:
http://www.garmin.com/cartography/#
Just tap on MapSource compatibilty and then select the NT map to see a list of devices that can use it. the 76CX is on the list.

Thanks Dale.. yes, pretty much.. you mention that NT needs newer hardware to support it.. If I do, in fact pick up the 76Cx, does this seem to fit the bill as newer hardware?
Thanks again for all the help.

Now, do you, or anyone else have info on the differences between their mapping software..?
It appears from their website that there is more than one compatable CD/DVD for the 76
City Navigator
City Navigator NT
These are two formats for the same data. NT uses a specialized compression technology and larger map area per map. They need newer hardware that support this technology.
City Select
This is gone now since as you say it is redundant. It is replaced with City Navigator.
Metro Guide
This product is currently a mapping product for those that do not need or cannot support autorouting on their GPS. The map data is visually the same and the POIs are the same as City Navigator but the routing data will not be transferred to the GPS itself. Currently the routing data is present for PC off line use but the ability to do real time tracking on the PC has made this problematic for Garmin's licensing agreement with NavTeq.
Note that the reason Metro Guide exists is to provide mapping for products that do not route at a cheaper price for the user.
Does this answer your question?
Dale
I guess I'm not smart enough to understand the differenes.. I don't understand why they would have so many different products that "SEEM" to do the same thing. So, can you/anyone help me sort this out?--
Looking for help.. Simply looking for good detailed city maps.. I'm under the impression that the maps that come preloaded will do everything well.. except cities/towns/villages/etc
Thanks, Bill

Just checked the COSTCO web site, again, and it's no longer there as a
listing. It was stock # 1308.50 and still appears in the on line version of
the September issue of the COSTCO magazine on page 54. Other information on
the web site is that it was supposed to be good from 9/1 to 9/30. Wouldn't
hold my breath, though.
Just checked the Costco site again and it's back. The URL is
