Re: Loading several hundred addresses into GPS

This is a problem I've had in accessing lots of cell sites - but they
were already defined by their coordinates.

I used a GPS-connected laptop. Using MapSource, I'd highlight all the
sites I had to go to on a certain day (MapSource is very good for this
task), and visually work out a sequence & write down those waypoint
names in sequence. Then, from that hand-written list, I'd construct a
route within MapSource. MapSource's handling of adding waypoints to a
route made it pretty simple to do, though I felt earlier versions were
better for this part of the job it's still not hard to do.

Once this route is built within MapSource, you can either use your
laptop in the car (InRoute) or transfer the route to your Garmin GPS.

The much bigger hassle is going to be geocoding your long list, but
there's no way around that. Google for "free geocoding" to find some
tools that will help ease your pain.

Anyway, the nut of this whole project would be to do as much
pre-planning as possible in a computer. Then, when traveling, either
keep it in there or transfer it to a suitable automotive-based GPS.

We regularly have a need to "hit the road' and inspect 100 to 400 local
real estate properties. Getting to these local properites in the most
efficient manner is a big deal to us. Is anyome aware of a portable GPS
that would allow us to "download" via bluetooth or usb a long list of
addresses and have the GPS sort then into the most efficient order
given a specific starting point? Thanks a bunch!!
