I demand that mogur2 <mogur2@xxxxxxxxxxx> may or may not have written in
news:ps61j21q65fkn58c4577gf5buq3n1vtu57@xxxxxxx:
For years my Garmin 2610 has given this location for my condo;
N34 25.197 W118 31.841
I just checked Google/Earth and found this;
34 27 02 N 118 29 52.86 W
Why the difference? Which is more accurate?
Good guestion - but the answer must be your GPS - unless it is
faulty! :-)
I sometimes have the same experience even when transferring my
waypoints directly between my GPS and Google Earth using my GPS
software (Mapsource from Garmin), i.e., datum and all should
have been taken care of but still my Google Earth Community POI
is far from the edge of the Cliff of Moher on Ireland where the
point was registered on my GPS! Unfortunately on the wrong side
- out in the water - a drop of over 150m!
Other waypoints match fairly well when comparing my GPS and GE.
PS: Have a look on the west coast not far below Galway - I don't
have access to my GPS nor GE at the moment, but there isn't that
many POI's on Ireland so it should be easy to spot.
