Automotive GPS for NON-Techies

I'm an avid user of gps for hunting, atving and geocaching. My in laws
are NOT. They don't have a computer and struggle using a VCR. They
bought a Garmin Legend a few years ago and it's still collecting dust
in a closet somewhere despite repeated attempts to learn. Now they
want an automotive gps for travel in Eastern Canada and USA. This is
their xmas gift to themselves and they want my advice. I'm not sure
what to recommend. I think the important feauture here is
user-friendliness. Price range is $400-$600 (Canadian). What would
you suggest?
