I collected a 5236 point track log flying from Villahermosa Mexico toI'm hoping somebody can check this out on a 76CSx/60CSx on a flight. I
Washington, DC (excepting takeoff and landings) about a month ago using my
76CS. The altitude in the track log never goes above 8,000 feet. I
checked the GPS altitude several times during the flight. It was always
close to (+ or - 500 feet) 38,000 feet. The 76CS uses the same software as
the 60CS. Thus, I don't think the 76CS/60CS ever records the GPS altitude
in the track log.
However, it sure would be nice if there was a setting to allow that -
hint, hint Garmin ;-)

don't have any immediate flying plans, and there is a distinct possibility
that it won't work the same under those conditions. I hope it will though;
that's about the only situation where I would really want the GPS altitude
in place of the barometric (with auto cal).
