Didn't think much of their families to go off so poorly equipped did they?

Well, I guess that makes you the most judgemental one in the
group.

I afree with Newby. The three men took out poorly equipped, likely
poor planning (weather forecast) in conditions that demand respect.
Their poor judgement resulted in their deaths. Sounds pretty
Darwinistic to me.

14 died on the ground as a result of this unusually strong 10 year
storm One could not escape a flooding basement because of the incoming
waters and others died because of improperly placed backup
generators--carbon monoxide poisioning.

I don't believe the climbers were cavalier about their safety, they
were experienced but not for the type of storm that rode in.

They aren't around to answer questions, but I'd want to cut them a
break and not accuse them of being selfish or stupid.

And of course if I have any desire for climbing Mt. Hood...I'll be
reminded to read up on the hazards involved and the best way to avoid
or survive them.
