If you have waypoints marked and one of them is you home, and it is
labeled as "home", you might wish to change that label to something
else so that it is less obvious. The thinking here is that if a person
steals your GPS, they might also be stealing the car or at least the
remote control to the garage.

OTOH, it may result in your getting the GPS back if you lose it
somewhere. See:

I have set the startup screen on my Garmin to my name and cellphone number.
That might be naive, but I would attempt to return a found GPS.

"Home" doesn't need to be marked by a waypoint on my GPS either. The track
is long enough that it includes a lot of scribbling around one conspicuous
spot that coincides with a waypoint called HVH.

I also have my name and cell phone number on a label above the screen on my
laptop. It was probably removed from the one that was stolen from my
office, but you never know. There is another one on the battery, in case
someone else looks later.
