If it was a firmware problem (most likely) you can see the cause of the
death by looking in the debug screen. From trip computer display you use
the joystick to go up, right, down, left (if that doesn't work, go round
again, since I may have forgotten where it starts from). That should
give you a screen listing the last half dozen or so screw ups.
Oh yeah, 'quit' iirc, gets you back.
On my receiver, there is a trip computer setup/options screen (part of
the main menu), but no other such screen. Pressing the direction key
there in the sequence you mention just makes it beep. :-)
You said "joystick" - Are you perhaps thinking of a different model?
