Howdy,
I own aeTrek Legend but was thinking of selling and buying the Vista cx for the extra memory and compass. Anyone have any thoughts on the Vista cx? Good or Bad.
I have the precursor to the Vista CX, the Vista C (same unit, no memory card). I too moved from the Legend to the Vista C, and have never looked back. It takes time to adjust to the Vista C screen as the Legend has a tall narrow screen, while the Vista C is more squarish. The reflective color screen makes the upgrade worth it, and is great in bright sunlight (no backlight necessary, although the backlight is handy in low-light conditions).
You'll also get a direct USB (no serial connection), which is not only more convenient, but also much faster. The barometer/altimeter is nice (the altimeter is more accurate than the GPS elevation--once calibrated, manually or via GPS over time), and the electronic compass is more handy than I thought it'd be, as it works when you're not moving--which is when you need the compass most. The compass also adjusts for declination automatically since it knows where you are :-)
Having said all that, I hope you find a buyer for your Legend...
Good luck,
Simon
