I recently purchased a used 2610 on ebay to use on my motorcycle. I am
still learning all the features. The one thing it seems to be missing
is useful poi's for example it woild be great to pull up major retail
stores nearest you i.e. lowes or wally world nearest you or have all
the Harley dealers in the U.S.. I have no problem finding these using
an address but cain't always have the address. Is there someplace I
can download poi's for this unit. Or a waypoint data base. not sure
how many waypoint I can enter or if I can download poi's to this unit.
This is really a great gps and they are going for next to nothing on
2610 does not support poi´s. Only those you make your self (max 250).
The POI's are associated with MapSource City Navigator or other MapSource POI map data. You must
have a data card in the 2610 with the MapSource map data loaded. In this case you have millions of
POI's (v5 - over 5 million. Owners Manual pg 24. I'm sure more with later MapSource Map versions
such as v7). If you want to make your own WayPoints indicating POI's, then you can use some of the
500 WayPoints available (Owners Manual pg 57).
