In shopping for an automobile gps navigation unit, I'm getting the
impression that you can only get instructions for going from one
physical address to another. What do you do if you want to go from
Memphis to Las Vegas, and be able to plan your own route? I can do
this with a Sportrak and Mapsend software, but I can't see that little
display, and I would like for it to talk to me. Naturally price is a
concern. Thanks, HJJ
You don't need to shop for a navigation system separately from the car.
The factory-supplied Alpine unit integrated into my instrument panel
allows entry of many points in a list of "Today's Destinations",
and it calculates the route to the "next destination".
I can reselect the "next destination" if I don't like its automatic choice.
That feature easily would navigate from Memphis to Las Vegas
via your own choice of intermediate points.
HTH, if you're looking for an excuse to buy a new car. :-/
