Hi Jack,
Do you find the electronic compass and altimeter worth the extra money?
Based on what I have read here it seems not?
By the way the difference where I am is about $70 between the two.
I need to decide on the 76Cx or the Csx.
Thanks
Joel

I like the control to be beneath the display. This way your hand(s)
doesn't (don't) block the screen while operating it.
I was just froogling the 60csx a few days ago. It it down to $330 or
so. If the compass was 3D, I'd probably buy one and keep my emap as a
spare.
I've heard that mentioned before but I don't think that is a problem
anyone has actually experienced. It is only something they think they
would experience.
I take a little discomfort from anyone that owns neither and finds one or
the other clearly better or deficient. It is irrational.
I have a 76Cx, don't have 60Cx, but have used Magellan Meridians with a
similar shape and button location a lot.
If you take the 76Cx/CSx with the weight or mass comfortably centered in
you hand, your thumb is not over the display. I can also reach up and
operate the buttons and cursor pad with the thumb of the hand that is
holding it and still not block the display.
When I hold the GPS in my left hand and use my right index finger on the
buttons and cursor pad, with the natural curl of the finger and angle of
the hand, nothing blocks the screen.
For one handed use, I am maintaining a better grip on the 76 style case in
use than I did on a GPS with the keys at the bottom. I don't have to
shift the GPS upward from a natural grip and reach down to press keys with
my thumb tip.
It is not a big difference in either case. The major thing I like better
about the rectangular case is that it lays flat, will not roll, and props
up straight. If leaned back against something it stays there better.
I have a Gilsson neoprene case on my 76Cx most of the time and that both
improves my grip and provides protection for the case and the display
without changing the shape.
Jack
