Sometimes it's a matter of who has the most money and the best

If you wanted to get a legal opinion, you'd have to have Garmin take
somebody to court. If you wanted 2 different opinions, you'd have to
have 2 people (or the same one) taken to 2 different courts, hahaha.

There are literally thousands of "homemade" maps available for upload
into Garmin and other receivers, and I have yet to see it reported
that Garmin has dragged any of these individuals into a courtroom.

The way I see it, the greater the availability of maps of all kinds,
the better it is for the Garmin GPS sales business. Why would they
actively discourage this?

I know they sell maps, but I'll bet they don't make much money from
it, and probably only do it to encourage receiver sales.
