Thanks,
My son (teenager) suggested that with my poor eyesight and the very small
numbers on the V I had mistaken 48 for 40 anyway ....
I got WAAS on the 2720 working this morning. I had decided that the 2720
was more sensitive than the V because it will pick up some sats indoors, the
V never finds any. However it looks as if this is only partially true, the
V may have better low angle sensitivity than the 2720. I live in the
country so there are plenty of trees around and the WAAS sats seem to be low
on the western horizon, at least this week! At the moment 51 is up in the
sky a bit and it is found so I now know that the unit wotks (D's on all
other Sats).
Thanks you for your help, Doug.
It is probably not a sensitivity issue. The first time you get the data for WAAS it takes a bit of time. After the first time it should be better. See my article on dgps for more details.

What do I have to do to make it work or do I have a defective unit.
Tanks, Doug.
test, WAAS (MSAS, EGNOS) sat., but I don't have ID 40 = PRN 127????
But at any rate, I understand that some GPS units will not use the
data if a sat is sending a test mode, or other problem flag signal, so
it will continue to search for a sat with good data! Also, some
units may not lock if the data being sent is not related to the GPS
location! In other words, if there are no reference stations near
your location, your reciever may not accept the WAAS data even if it
is getting a strong signal! Once more, reference stations in, say,
Japan won't help people in Astralia, unless and or until Astralia sets
up reference stations,, even though both can see the same WAAS
(MSAS) sat. Some GPS units may try to use some of the data even if
it isn't related to their location, which may not improve the
accuracy, and I understand may in fact even make it worse??? Maybe
others have better info!! In the mean time, where is sat ID 40
located, what longitude???
