I'm looking to purchase a gps device for my car. I have specific
requirements in that i want automatic routing capabilities of multiple
destinations (up to 15 or so), voice prompts, and traffic
notification wouldnt be bad either (i can always get an add on for
that). My research brought me to the Garmin Street Pilot 2820. Does
anyone have experience with this device? Anything good/bad to say
about it?
I use the earlier 2610 which has the same basic navigation features as the 2820. I think the 2820 is a good choice for your requirements.
Other Garmins that will also meet them are the zumo models and the Quest II (the Quest has some map storage limitations but also meets the requirements). The zumos are motorcycle oriented but will work equally well in a car. The zumo 550 is probably the most open of all of them as far as the capability of adding features like XM radio, FM-TMC traffic, and weather radio.
You can compare the features of the 2820, quests, and zumos here:

and all the the automotive products (less the zumos) here:

If you pay attention to the numbers of waypoints and routes allowed on the different models, that will be your indicator of the multiple destination capability. If it says 0 or 1 for routes, it will not do multiple destination routing.
Are there other similar products that anyone would suggest
I get that is better than the 2820? I went with garmin since i hear
they are leaders in the industry, but i know there are several other
reputable brands with good products as well.
Here are some links to reviews and comparisons and sites offering those. Needless to say you need to carefully study info from multiple sources to get beyond opinions and journalism to objective studies:

Thoughts??
I currently own and use a StreetPilot 2610 and a GPSMAP 76Cx handheld. I'm very happy with those and they do everything I want to do. I'm a person that wants only good navigation and navigation related features from his GPS receivers. I'm not at all interested in Bluetooth phones, XM radio, FM-TFC, WX radar, etc.
