I'm looking for up-to-date reviews of marine GPS devices. A simple

Any ideas on groups or sites that discuss this topic would be greatly
appreciated.

What are you looking for? A handheld GPS? A yoke or console mounted
chart plotter? There are some review of the handhelds here:

Do a careful comparison of what you want against the features on the
newer Garmins. They are for some reason stupidly reducing the waypoint
and route capacities and leaving off some of the features that went to
manipulating and editing routes.

I use a 76Cx with the optional BlueChart marine charts for boat
deliveries and it is an excellent choice for that.

Thanks for your help Jack.

I'm looking for a place to start. I don't yet know which features I
should have, versus which features are just overpriced add-ons I'd
never use. Also, I've seen some comments regarding pricey software
that must be purchased in addition to the GPS and its native
functionality.

I'm looking for:
- A console mounted GPS unit
- 5+ inch color screen
- Around $500 or less
- No need for fish finder functionality
- I like the BlueChart feature (but this is not absolutely necessary)
- It would be used almost entirely in the Chesapeake Bay and
surrounding tributaries.
- It doesn't have to be wired into the engine, or other hardware on
the boat. I have a speedometer, depth finder/fish finder, gas gauge,
etc. (though this functionality may be preferred in some
circumstances, certainly not necessary in mine).

I will thoroughly review the link you provided (lovely interface).
