This CD only covers the parks.
Not altogether accurate.

Best look at Garmin MapViewer, since in some places there is surprising coverage.

In Southern California it covers all NPs plus
Mojave National Preserve, San Bernardino
Mountains (including San Jacintos), the Santa
Monica Mountains -- going well beyond it's
"National Parks" name.

I noticed that it also apparently covers some
National Forest land and someone else mentioned
State Lands.. so perhaps the product is not named very appropriately.

If it covers much of the land publically held
by the Fed and the States then even with some
lapses .. it could be worth the money.

or to put this another way... how useful is 24K
topo's if it depicts private land that you
cannot go on - anyhow?

Isn't all you need .. the public lands?

None of the land covered is private, unless
surrounded by a park or some such.

The example I mentioned above is pretty unique to
So Calif. Coverage in OR, NV, etc. is not nearly
as useful.

Yesterday I discovered and ordered Garmin Topo
U.S. 2008, with full country coverage. 100K:1 scale, but should be a big improvement over the older version of Topo US -- with over 4 GB on a single DVD vs. no more than 2 GB on three CDs. Roads are shown with names. Contour interval in my area is 150 ft (vs. an interval even only in meters) in the old set).

It can be ordered here: http://www.gpsnow.com/gmmstp.htm

Not a replacement for 24K Topo .. but provides coverage everywhere.
