Or starting at the Wikipedia article

one finds a link to Fluid Mechanics films (from 1961):

I particular, the movie "Vorticity, Part 1" at

http://modular.mit.edu:8080/ramgen/ifluids/Vorticity_Part_1.rm

(RealPlayer required) shows the bathtub experiment, starting about 20
minutes in. The tub in question is quite cylindrical, with a small
hole in the center and a plug in the hole that can be removed from the
outside (so you don't disturb the water). They fill the tub, let it
sit for a day, pull the plug, and in the last minutes of the tub
draining (which takes about 15 minutes - thankfully they don't show it
all) one can see a definite counterclockwise rotation.
