Exactly! -And in the US we do the very same thing by
surveying with the NAD-83 datum instead of the WGS-84
datum... NAD-83 considers the North American Continent not
to be moving (which it is)...

Also there is a difference in the "center of the earth" of
the two datums by about 2 meters...
