Any readers of this who use a GPS know the answer to this question:
Do topographical, not road, maps of Europe exist for use with a GPS?
They do exist for some parts of Europe at least, but sometimes they are provided as third party products and thus not really advertised by GPS receiver makers. For example there are two separate product families that provide Garmin topographic maps for whole Finland (Garmin Vapaa-ajan kartta and Topo-Suomi).
Anyway the topographic map products that are available are typically different for each country, so your best bet is to contact an Italian map source and ask them.
