Hello all. Is there a hybrid GPS receiver combining outdoor activity
(shock resistant, weather and water proof) and a car navigation
device?
There are some that will do both tasks but the nature of the two tasks means that either it will do both mediocrely or one well and the other poorly.
Just taking the screen size as an example. For car use you want a large bright screen. If that is made rugged enough to survive all but the tamest outdoor activities it will be heavy and likely bulky which are not desirable for outdoor funseekers.
It is a nice idea but in the real world you are much better off with two separate receivers than a jack of all trades.
