I've got a Garmin GPSmap 60C (bought it in the spring of 2003) and[snip]

What I would like to do is download the entire map set for England &
Wales to the device. Can I increase the memory in the GPSR I've
already got? Does the later model have greater memory? Are there any
that use Compact Flash or SD memory cards, for example?
All suggestions are welcome. :o)
The Garmin models with x are expandable with micro-sd cards. I guess you
have used only the city navigator on one device, then you could load the
map on a second device from garmin.
Isn't the 60C a pre SiRF star III receiver? Then you will be delighted
with the improvment of the gps receiver in the eg. 60cx or 60csx. The
have the same casing as the 60C, only with a micro SD slot and SiFR
star III gps receiver for improved receptions and faster acquiring. You
might look also into the new eTrexes like Legend HCx or Vista HCx. The
eTrex H has also an improved gps receiver from Media Tek. They are
smaller and lighter then the 60cx and it runs a bit longer. But the
display is a bit smaller.
