Hand held GPS receivers (in my opinion) are becoming less capable

After I posted I did wonder if maybe this was sign that GPS's did hit
the mainstream.  After all one doesn't need a newsgroup to find other
GPS users if a large number of the population has one.

I was a bit surprised to realize that the factory GPS's in cars don't
appear to allow one to enter latitude and longitude.  When I wanted to
give a buddy some coordinates to meet me at we had to resort to the old
low-tech landmark method.  Luckily Google had overhead imagery that we
could use to find an easily recognizable meeting place.

I'm not giving up on USENET yet.

Thanks for putting in the effort.  I can see that you are a true
educator at heart.

Thanks, Wolfgang, for your contributions in the past and the dgpsip
  server you operate.

My pleasure!

As GPS has become mainstream, do you think there might be a market in
teaching GPS Science, Technology and Applications?

I don't mean GPS commercial devices which come with instructions. I'm
talking about professionals that need to understand applications and
further develop the technology.
