Anyone out there have this software installed on a Garming 60 or 76 CSX? I use my GPS strictly for crosscountry travel, hiking, fishing, hunting. I load waypoints into my GPS with OZI then carry the paper 24K topos with me. How do the Garmin 24K topos compare, do they have as much detail or are they a waste of money??
The elevation resolution of the standard Garmin topo maps makes them poor for identifying the shapes of features. The 24k maps are just about as good as paper maps. The problem is that they cover only national parks. So if you do a significant amount of hiking in national parks, I think you'll find the 24k maps useful -- otherwise, you won't. Be sure to check the map coverage at the Garmin web site before you buy.
