A reasonable request.
Unreasonable responses.

"JoeinSilverSprin... Common frustration - 'where is my bus!?'
Does WMATA know where its buses are in real-time and could this
information be available to riders? My vision is that each Metrobus
has a GPS in it and this is linked to a computer at WMATA. I'm waiting
in lousy whether for a bus that runs every 20 minutes - did I miss it,
is it delayed, should I start walking? I dial a WMATA number, the
computer prompts me for my busline, then my general location. A
computerized voice tells me where the buses are in my vicinity. . . .
Leona Agouridi... My frustration too! We recently had a GPS system
put on our buses so that Central Control can know where the buses are.
Our IT people are working on a project to install scheduling
technology to determine whether our buses are running on time, early
or late. Once this happens we'll be able to translate the information
in a way that's meaningful for our customers and customer service
agents -- on the Web, on the phone or on a PDA. We're with you."

"Do you have or could you make available a text file containing the
longitude and lattitude locations and names for each of your metro
locations?
I use Delorme and GPS to get around to and from appointments, erands,
etc. As I am new to the DC Metro area, I typically have no idea how
close or far any of your stops are from a given location.
I think this would be a very nice Customer Service touch. Keep in mind
this could also be very handy for those with hand held gps units, pdas
with gps, etc.
I've attached a similar text file containing the format for the VRE
locations. This text file uses addresses.
Thank you,

Richard White: Hi. Security concerns have us keeping some information
close to the vest. Thanks for the suggestion. We'll refer it to our
Transit Police and IT folks for evaluation."
Yikes! Sounds like a bad example from Bruce Schneier's blog.
There are free downloads at these 2 sites, but neither one gives
coordinates. The first one at least gives addresses, the second one
just station names by line:
http://dcatlas.dcgis.dc.gov/catalog/results.asp?search_type=search_by_keyword&keyword=wmata&page=1&pagesize=10
http://gis.vedp.org/data_main.aspx
Wikipedia lists stations here. If you click on the link for an
individual station (3rd column in table), some give coordinates, but
not many:
