evesham nav-cam 7000

Hi All, I recently bought one of the above off ebay as faulty and
managed to easily repair it but there was no sd card or cd with it so
i am struggling to find some software for it that actually works.
My pc does not recognise it when connected through usb (cable that
came with my digi-cam) but it does charge it.
I am able to view photos and play mp3's with it (not that i want to
but just testing it).
I have read a few forums where people claim to have successfully used
software other than original (whatever original is) but have had to
rename files, alter registry etc.... because i am unable to connect to
my pc i am unable to follow directions as on forums.

What i want to know is:-
what is the original software ?
where can i get a copy ?
exactly what files should be on the sd card ?
is there any other way of booting to windows desktop ? 1 person said
somewhere that holding two buttons down while doing a soft reset will
load desktop but i dont have a clue which buttons.

Any help will be gratefully appreciated as i intend to give this as a
gift once i get it going properly.
