Language for embedded image processing

Hi,

I am currently working on an TI DSP based image processing. I a
programming in C and was wondering if there is something better out
there.

Can anybody tell we what languages they are using on what kind of
processor?

I must say I like programming in C. Lots of freedom, complete
certainty about what operations are being performed. As an experienced
C-programmer, I know the pitfalls (learned it the hard way) and have
little problem avoiding them.

I am curious about other opinions!
