There are a number of commerically available PCI boards on the market,
ranging from around $50 (low cost amateur stuff) all the way to the
moon as far as price is concerned.

What you might want to look out for is the pixel spatial density,
pixel bit depth, and acquisition rate that is desired.

If you are thinking of designing such a board yourself, its straight
forward (minus noise troubles that might arise). However, I wouldn't
design a new board, considering that the $50 stuff works amazing for
most purposes.
